How to Determine What Profile You Need
In order to determine the correct profile to best fit your needs, it is important to follow the guidelines below.
The proper profile depends on the gasket that holds the glass in the frame. By measuring the width of the gasket we can determine the correct profile to fit your security needs.
A rule of thumb is that the flexible membrane of the attachment needs to span over the gasket so that the tape can either be installed on the frame or the film (see photos at right).
Gasket sizes and their corresponding profiles:
Gasket
0" - 1/8" (glazing tape is used instead of rubber gasket)
1/8" - 3/8" (rubber gasket)
3/8" - 5/8" (rubber gasket)
5/8" - 7/8" (rubber gasket)
greater than 7/8"
rubber gasket or aluminum bar
Profile
PWS-SM (Small)
PWS-S (Standard)
PWS-L (Large)
PWS-XL (Extra Large)
PWS-XXL(Extra Extra Large)
For Doors, the glass is held by snap rings:
If the snap ring is square and the width + depth = 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" then Z-LOK-90 is the correct profile. However if the glass rebate, (Depth measurement), is approximately = 1/4" Then Z-Lok-90 small should be used.
If the snap ring is beveled, then Z-LOK-45 is the correct profile (no need for measurement).
Note that for any Pentagon Elite profile, a larger profile can be installed in place of a a smaller profile, but not vice versa. For example, PWS-S can replace PWS-SM, but PWS-SM will not fit where PWS-S is installed.
Z-LOK-90 can also be installed instead of Z-LOK-45, but not vice versa.
